Why IMAP matters

Example: imap.gmail.com, port 993, your full mailbox address and a provider-supported app password where available. Credentials are sent to the server for a connection test. This password-based tester cannot complete an OAuth-only login.

No. It tests the incoming-mail connection. SMTP sending, campaign scheduling and reply-stop settings need their own checks.

It connects to your IMAP host (usually port 993 over SSL) and authenticates, confirming the mailbox can be read for reply tracking.

Outreach platforms use IMAP to detect replies, sync your inbox and automatically stop sequences when a prospect responds.

Port 993 is commonly used for implicit TLS. This tool requests TLS and has no STARTTLS selector, so do not assume port 143 is interchangeable. Use your provider’s documented connection method.

Start with the provider’s hostname and supported port/security setting. Check whether IMAP is enabled and whether your account requires OAuth or an app password. A timeout suggests network or host access; an authentication failure suggests credentials or provider policy.
